Ready to run? Ready to have fun? Ready to let your feet, passion and enthusiasm contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of South Africa’s greatest city? Then you’ve come to the right place, because the FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN is where it’s at if you want to take back the streets in style.

To ensure you and your fans – or people just interested in spectating – have a great day out in the heart of the city, you can check out EVENT INFO and RUNNER INFO.

As with all events of this size, the one thing we can’t recommend enough is that you get there early. The city will be swarming with runners, so to make the start time on time, get there in time.

FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN celebrates the sizzling city that is the beating heart and soul of South Africa. In recent years downtown Joburg has been revitalised and now it’s your turn to play a role in drawing attention to this historical, heavyweight African city. Joburg is an eclectic mix of minds and bodies, become a part of that melting as you explore the inner city on foot.

This fast and flat 10km run is for everyone. Young, old, fast, slow, pacey or ponderous are welcome. It’s for the runner that loves to explore, for the South African that wants to see more of their beautiful country, for the casual jogger who wants to spend a morning with like-minded people. Starting at FNB Bank City, the route will twist and turn through the streets of Joburg, passing historical sites, renewed suburbs and taking in familiar street names before finishing at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown.

Meet the team

  • MICHAEL MEYER

    STILLWATER SPORTS MANAGING DIRECTOR down

    Michael is an Ironman and was a hotshot runner in his youth – he boasts a PB of 30:03 for a 10k!  He’s extremely passionate about lifestyle sports events, particularly athletics, mountain biking and triathlon.  He has managed and coached some of SA’s best track and field athletes and was fortunate to be a part of multiple Olympic Games, World Athletics Championships, the major city marathons, as well as some of the world’s leading endurance events. His favourite athletes remain Lasse Viren, the four time Olympic gold medallist from Finland, and Carl Lewis.  Michael inherently believes it’s not how far you run, but how fast you run the distance.

  • Agne Du Plessis

    General Manager down

    Agne’s an Ironman – enough said.  Well she’s also an Ironwoman with three children, so keeping the team in check is a piece of cake.  Her background in corporate event management so she brings a wealth of knowledge to the team.  Her easy going manner is the calming force when things get crazy and when that doesn’t work she brings the wooden spoon.

  • Dezroy Poole

    Stillwater Sports Director down

    Dezroy’s passion and energy for eventing knows no limits.  He understands the balance between the participant experience and putting on a well-managed, safe event.  He has been involved in all levels of South African sport, including serving as a Development Officer of the International Triathlon Union. His sense of humour provides the team with many moments of laughter.  An ardent football fan and player, he secretly wishes he played for Manchester United.

  • Clint Douglas

    Financial Manager down

    Show me the money!  Clint is the money man who thinks he would be great in a Tom Cruise movie.  He manages all Stillwater’s financial affairs and his positive approach to problems allows him to provide alternative solutions for seemingly daunting tasks.

  • Jacky Rabbolini

    Event Manager down

    Jacky loves the outdoors and is a passionate sports fan. She’s worked in the experiential events industry for over 10 years, both on the national and international scene. She has now taken on the challenge of bringing you the FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN. As a Joburg local, she knows exactly how to help you EXPLORE YOUR CITY!

  • Lauren De Wet

    Marketing Manager down

    Lauren, aka Social Media Queen and Her Royal Highness, has established herself as a digital media expert and manages Stillwater Sports’ extensive digital content calendar.  She runs the social media as if she was running Britain, she really is HRH.  Lauren tries her best to make sure we all look cool – it’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it!

  • Jacky McClean

    Public Relations & Media down

    Jacky is passionate about media coverage – about monitoring it and about getting it!  Her ability to generate PR around our many events is legendary and is what ensures FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN receives all the additional coverage it deserves. Jacky’s secret stash of treats has saved many a team member in desperate times.

  • Amanda Lambrechts

    Logistics & Production Manager down

    Amanda is the sergeant major of the team and keeps us in check.  Together with Gerold, she makes sure the event venues look awesome.  She works closely with sponsors to ensure all event branding and vehicles reach on the event destination on time, and that they are all returned safely.  She’s in charge of our production department making sure all items are ordered and delivered on time.

  • Gerold Druker

    Activations Manager down

    Gerold works his magic and fields or streets come alive with branding and colour.  Gerold and his team are responsible for ‘dressing’ our venues with our clients’ branding. On off days Gerold is either being the world’s greatest dad or watching the latest sci-fi series.

  • Danélle Kietzmann

    Entries Office Manager down

    Danélle manages the entries office not only for the FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN but for the Cape Town 12 ONERUN, and all Stillwater Sports events. This is a huge responsibility that she is perfectly suited for due to her excellent organisational skills. Nicknamed Waltons, she’s a walking stationery shop and ensures the entries office is always running at maximum efficiency.

  • Phindi Zwane

    Entries Office Assistant down

    Phindi is Danélle’s right hand woman and she’s not called Kerry Washington aka The Fixer for nothing.  If you’ve emailed or called the FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN office, chances are you’ve dealt with her. 

  • Sarah Marx

    Pro Athlete Manager down

    Sarah makes sure all our invited athletes are treated like the rock stars they are.  She manages all their accommodation and travel arrangements, plus makes sure they receive their prize money and incentives. She manages the PUMA sponsored athletes.  Her day job is event manager for the XTERRA South Africa series.

  • Brett Cox

    Producer, Videographer & Editor down

    Together with his trusty colleague Josh Rowe, Brett manages the film crew to capture the event. His outstanding work includes producing highlights videos for YouTube and other social media as well as a monthly show for Super Sport. Brett’s interests range from film to surfing to trail running, with anything water-related being his happy place.
